Photogravure – From Photography to Etching

Photogravure – From Photography to Etching

About this workshop

Learn the use of photopolymer plates in combination with digital photography to create Photogravures.

On day one, you will prepare your images in Photoshop – Optimising the quality of your original image to suit the photogravure print. The image is transferred directly onto the plate with the use of an inkjet printer. Plates are then exposed using UV light, processed with water and printed via an etching press.  This is a non-toxic approach without the use of solvents, or acids.

On day two, there will be plenty of time for experimentation with printmaking techniques and paper options including Chine Colle techniques using rice papers and digitally created color layers.
