Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades acknowledges the Wadawurrung people as the Traditional custodians of the land on which we operate. About this workshop

Banish the Granny Knot forever! Learn to tie knots that are useful in everyday life with shipwright and sailmaker, Rick Mitchell! In this half-day workshop, you will learn about rope construction and historic uses of knots. You will get hands-on experience tying a variety of traditional practical knots: the rolling hitch, reef knot, sheet bend, bow line, truckies’ hitch, clove hitch, and round turn. At the conclusion of the workshop, you will take away print resources and a bibliography, the knot samples you've created, and a length of rope for practicing your skills at home.

Snacks, lunch, water bottle, notepad and pen

Workshop appropriate - closed toe shoes, no hanging jewellery, hair tied back.

Small class size – max 8 participants

All instruction, tools and materials included.
