Learn to sew your own puffy sleeve chemise with Corsetière and Costume Maker, Catherine Irving!
In this full-day workshop, you will learn the techniques of gathering, rolled hemming, French seams and applying bias binding. These methods will be taught through the creation of a chemise.This workshop is suitable for participants with intermediate sewing skills.
At the end of the workshop, you will have a lightweight puffy sleeved chemise, the perfect base layer for an historical or fantasy costume and the skills to expand upon your wardrobe.
Essential information
Required skill level
Students must be able to competently use a sewing machine – this is not a beginner sewing class. If you can comfortably sew a tote bag or a basic skirt in nonstretch fabric using a sewing machine then you are ready for this class.
What do I need to bring?
Snacks, lunch, water bottle, notepad and pen.
Clothing guidelines
Workshop appropriate - closed toe shoes, hair tied back, no hanging jewellery, no baggy or flowing clothing.
