Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades acknowledges the Wadawurrung people as the Traditional custodians of the land on which we operate. We acknowledge their unceded sovereignty over Wadawurrung Country, and the ongoing hardship and trauma as a result of colonisation. The history and continuous culture of the Wadawurrung people is an important part of our shared story.

Jeweller 
WORKSHOP STYLE Passionate, creative, intricate. 
ABOUT BRENDON: Brendon Collins is a jeweller who creates unique pieces that embody his passion for geometric composition, timber, and his steadfast commitment to the traditional aspects of his craft. 
WE SAY: Brendon trained as a furniture maker and craftsperson under the guidance of his father, Master Craftsman and furniture maker, Greg Collins. He specialised in complex inlay work using a wide range of native and exotic timbers. Brendon established his solo practice as a jeweller and was a finalist in the prestigious National Contemporary Jewellery Award in 2014, 2016 and 2020. He now works in his Melbourne studio creating beautiful wooden jewellery.

Introduction to Wood Turning

Try your hand at wood turning with Brendon Collins. 
 
In this full-day workshop, you will be introduced to the fundamentals of woodturning using an electric lathe. You will choose your timber, mount your 
timber to the lathe and use a variety of tools including chisels, gouges, scrapers and parting tools to turn a rolling pin and bowl. 
 
 At the end of the workshop, you will take your creations home with you along with your newfound knowledge and skills.
