ABOUT BRIAN:
Brian Sims is a practitioner of traditional leadlight and a recognized leadlight restoration specialist who has worked over the past 30 years repairing church windows across South Australia.
In his practice, Brian concentrates on the traditional methods of cutting and joining glass pieces using lead solder. His workshop sessions focus on guiding students to safely use these old techniques to create unique leadlight decorations. In contemporary applications, these works are sometimes hung in windows and called ‘zendalas’, and used in conjunction with meditative yoga practice.

Brian’s work illustrates a contemporary take on the ancient discipline of joining coloured glass pieces to create designs that tell a story or set a mood. His methods are an insight into another time and place, while his work integrates old skills into new settings.
