ABOUT MATT:
Matt Stonehouse is a musician, teacher and instrument maker. He is the author of Percussion of the Arabic world and beyond and his music can be heard on the 2016 vinyl release, Rosie’s point of view.
WE SAY:
Matt has an impressive career as a professional musician specialising in Arabic and Turkish styles of drumming. He has travelled throughout the Middle East to study with master musicians and has featured on over forty albums with both local and international artists.
Matt is a passionate teacher of both music and instrument making. As an instrument maker, he has had residencies at Dunmoochin artist's colony and Montsalvat. Matt is now based in St Andrews where he creates handcrafted frame drums under the name, Steam and Lumber.
