Chinese Silk and Gold Embroidery
About this workshop
Learn the art of embroidery with award-winning artist, Alison Cole.
In this two-day workshop, you will be working on an embroidery design inspired by two pieces in the collection of the Australian Centre for Goldrush Collections.
You will learn how to prepare and embroider with flat silk – using predominantly satin stitch and encroaching satin stitch. Once an area of silk embroidery is completed, we will then cover continuous line couching in gold Japanese couching thread.
We will be working in flat silk on cotton sateen fabric.
This project is perfect for those wanting to learn about the pieces in the Goldrush collection and how they were worked.
