Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades acknowledges the Wadawurrung people as the Traditional custodians of the land on which we operate. We acknowledge their unceded sovereignty over Wadawurrung Country, and the ongoing hardship and trauma as a result of colonisation. The history and continuous culture of the Wadawurrung people is an important part of our shared story.

About this workshopTake an adventure into the world of natural dyeing with artisan Jude Craig. In the first day you will explore the history, materials and techniques of using traditional indigo dye, including resist techniques to achieve unique patterning.Extend your skills and knowledge in day two by learning the methodology of over-dyeing indigo fabrics with osage orange and mistletoe dyes to create a palette of yellow and green hues.At the completion of the workshop you will take home a variety of fabric samples and silk scarves celebrating the exhuberant colours created using these age-old techniques.

Take an adventure into the world of natural dyeing with artisan Jude Craig. In the first day you will explore the history, materials and techniques of using 
traditional indigo dye, including resist techniques to achieve unique patterning. 
 
During Day 2 you will extend your skills and knowledge by learning the 
methodology of over-dyeing indigo fabrics with osage orange and mistletoe dyes to create a palette of yellow and green hues. 
 
At the completion of the workshop you will take home a variety of fabric samples and silk scarves celebrating the exhuberant colours created using these 
age-old techniques.
