Silversmithing: Discover Metal Clay
Have you every wished you could capture the delicate textures of a leaf or the intricate form of a seedpod in silver? In this full-day workshop you'll
discover how to do exactly that using Art Clay Silver, a material developed in Japan that works like soft clay but fires into solid fine silver.
Under the guidance of jeweller Rachel Grose you will begin by exploring texture and form through a botanical theme using collected leaves, flowers and
seedpods to imprint detailed patterns and to create moulds that you then use to form the clay before torch-firing your pieces. Through the morning you will
create a pendant and pair of earrings; by the afternoon you will be developing your own designs - experimenting, refining and playing with the process
with Rachel's support and encouragement.
